Can you paint eggshell straight over gloss?

I’ve started prepping the doors but not sure if I’ve done enough. Will eggshell stick to gloss or does it need primer or sanding first?

"Hello

I would not advise this.

Sand down areas and apply undercoat , once undercoat is dry, apply eggshell."

"You do need to lightly sand the gloss first then clean off and paint with the eggshell."

"You will need to sand them down and apply an oiled base undercoat, the water based one will not stick properly to the gloss."

"Certainly not, you will need to sand down the gloss to get a key, then a good coat or 2 of undercoat, then eggshell on that for a good permanent finish, if you don't, it will peel."

"Best to sand slightly first to 'key' the surface, personally I would use satinwood, and the Johnstone's water based durable one is excellent and self undercoating."
