Can you lay artificial grass on concrete?

Can I put artificial grass straight on concrete or does it need some kind of base or drainage layer underneath

"You could reply with something like:

Artificial grass can be laid on concrete, but only if the concrete has adequate drainage. I would normally recommend installing a shock pad and ensuring there are drainage gaps or holes if water cannot drain away naturally. Laying it directly onto a non-draining concrete slab can lead to standing water, odours and a reduced lifespan of the artificial grass.
Ideally, I’d recommend installing it on a properly prepared sub-base of MOT Type 1 and sharp sand, which provides better drainage, a more natural feel underfoot and a longer-lasting finish.”"

"Hi, no I would not recommend laying artificial turf on concrete, mainly this is because the turf requires free drainage. A layer of fine MOT Type 1 or gravel should be placed down before a top layer of sharp sand. This is now I have always prepped the ground and never had any drainage problems..alternative methods are used but are all close variations of this. If you had drainage channels In the concrete this may be ok but could cost more to create than taking the concrete up and laying a new appropriate sub base."

"Theoretically yes you can lay artificial on top of concrete, but what is actually required is a structural sub-base (like MOT Type 1 or crushed limestone) for drainage and stability, and a screed layer (like sharp sand or granite dust) for a smooth finish. A weed barrier membrane and a foam shock pad underlay are often added for comfort and weed prevention. of"
