Can I re-wire my property with minimum disruption and money?

Hello. We completed the refurbishment of our new home 15 months ago including some new circuits and all new electrical plugs, and light switches. It is ex-council property. We just found out that the electrical system is unsafe and could cause electrocution as there is no earthing in some of the circuits.
We have now run out of time and money to do a new wired system and are wondering what direction to take. I am pretty nervous to live in the property considering we have a 5yo daughter.

What alternative options could I consider?

"Have u had a periodic inspection at the property? I would start from that if I was you. I always suggest customers to have an inspection first before they do any electrical work at the property ad you might not need a full rewire. Depending on the test results your earthing issu6 could be resolved with minimum disruption."

"Hey there, the answer is yes you could do a full rewire with trucking systems all around your property. Statically you will be able to see the trucking however you will have a full rewire with minimal damage to your walls and ceilings. Hope that helps!"

"I would have an EICR report done first testing 100% of the property . This should give you full clarity on the existing installation .
At a cost of around £180"

"To make your electrical instalation more safe replace all metal sockets or switches ,metal lights to plastic ones."

"First thing i would recommend is an EICR (electricial inspection condition report) this is basically a full MOT for your wirting and will show what areas are needed for improvement and any that meet current regulations. from there on your able to be assured of what needs to be done and an estimate on costs etc. depending on size of property EICR can start at £80."

"Socket circuits without an earth are dangerous and should not be used. It is not acceptable to change metal sockets to plastic ones. This is just as dangerous, Lighting circuits without earthing are acceptable for use as long as no metal light fittings or switches are present."

"just rewire the light circuit or only fit plastic fittings to the light circuit (ie pendants and light switches"

"Firstly I’m guessing the earthing is missing on the lighting circuits and the new circuits installed contain the earthing conductors, if this is the case the new circuits will be ok but the originals won’t be and it is advisable to have these rewired as soon as you possibly can, however precautions should be made as soon as possible , these being making sure there are no exposed metal parts used by the circuits in question I.e. switch plates, ceiling roses should be plastic and non metal to prevent conductivity through fault conditions and ensure the retaining screw heads on the switch plates have plastic caps over them to prevent potential electric shock, I must stress this isn’t an ideal situation but it will help until a time you can have the circuits rewired."

""Most council houses use metal conduit within the walls to provide earthing, and it's likely the same in your case. An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is recommended to assess the condition of the existing installation.""

"If you run out of money as long as plastic fittings and switches can do that for awhile until saved enough money and you would be safe
Hope that helps
Am assuming you had EICR done"
