Best way to paint stained wood?

My stair case is currently dark brown stained wood. I would like the paint the handrail and the bottom black with white spindles. What paint and techniques would give the best finish?

"You’ll need to rub down and apply Zinsser stain block 1-2 coats then paint with Additional undercoat and topcoat as required"

"If it is a varnished finish rub through the topcoat to stop chipping and prime with Zinsser bin or coovar equivalent followed by suitable undercoat and finish coat."

"You first need to sand it smooth get rid of any bumps fill any holes with ready-made interior powder( Johnstone's pro gold is good )filler. Caulk any joint gaps between spindles, handrail etc..
When your filler and caulk are dry, sand to a smooth finish over the powder filler.
Then use 2 coats of Zinsser Cover Stain ( you can tint it to your chosen colour)to prime the entire staircase.
Use a good undercoat base and a satin finish ( if you go to any good paint shop, they will ask you what base ..ie...satin, gloss, semi-gloss ) they will then ask what tint/pigment you want, colour code this will be the same colour number for both undercoat and finish coat.
I would use a variety of sash brushes( round brushes) and also a Ligger Brush to cut in your spindles.
I would buy also 1 1/2 flat brushes for your flat areas near the treads.
Decorating blanket on either side of the stairs.
And enjoy 👍"
