Best way to deal with bumpy plastered ceiling

What's best to do with a bumpy and slightly cracked ceiling? Should we bring the whole lot down and start again, board over or is it possible to skim it?

"Pva it and re-skim using a speedskim but also just gently push on the ceiling to see if it bounces if that's the case screws would have popped, then fill and sand then paint.
With the crack slitlghtly scrap at a angle fill and sand then paint but this can depend on how much the ceiling is bumpy and how big the crack
Is."

"For the best solution, drop ceiling n reboard, or if you have the height erect a false ceiling jyst below the original to save the debris and mess."

"If it’s artex you can pva it and skim it if the ceiling is sound
Or reboard the ceiling if it’s bad and skim
Or if the ceiling is bowed put a timber frame up board and skim it
Or take it all down and reboard and skim it 👍"

"I think the best option if it's not loose I'd scrim the cracks and re skim.
