the render on the front of our house has gone green and grimy down one side. don't want to repaint if a clean would sort it, whats a rough price to have it done professionally?

"I'm unaware of a proper cleaning service for render, this may be because it's a big risk for the cleaner as render is very expensive to fix if accidentally damaged. However you want to look at what caused it to go green in the first place. Could be any of these
.no much overhang on the roof
.old (wear n tear over a long period)
. Render is too low to the floor
. Incorrect beading at the bottom of the wall(only holds water and doesn't allow it to drip away) the correct bead is known as a belcast bead.
.house is on a main road and vehicles spray up water and dirt.
I wouldn't have my own house rendered in a light colour on a main road.

I hope this helps"

"Go over it with the hose and a try a small area with a stiff brush , with some washing up liquid in a bucket , see how it gos , just be careful using a jet wash it could do more damage than good if the render is old , now depending on how bad it is , most Masonary paints have an antifungal in them now anyway so once you paint over it it seals it so it will kill the small stuff and stop air getting in which will stop it growing , , just be careful with a jet wash it can blast the render right off ,, Try a small patch at the bottom with a jet wash then if you do have to patch it , it won’t stick out to much when you patch it , just take your time it’s going to be cheaper than a re render , that’s for sure , Good luck with it"
