Best thickness for loft insulation

What is the ideal thickness for a loft insulation? Does it depend on your home?

"170mm is good enough to lay in your loft. If you put more it won't really be much better but don't put less"

"The recommended depth of blanket style insulation (glass or mineral wool) for a loft is 250 to 270 mm"

"Hi Christian,

The current minimum standard is 270mm. A lot of newbuild properties we install our boarding into have as much as 400mm but 270mm is the standard.
