Could you please provide information about the applications and benefits of a 2-core twisted pair cable?

This is normally used for pendent drops where no earth is required 
Can’t think of another use

Now a days 2 core twisted cables are not used anymore. They were used before for small electrical hanging bulbs and lights.

Basically thy do this to reduse impedance of the that circuit however its depent to your function of your circuit

if it is a telephone or equivalent cable, then it can be used for extension sockets jut not much else really
