    advice of painting over mould in a spare room

    If I have a surface that I’d like to paint over, can painting over mould kill it off or does it need to be fully removed before I move on to repainting my walls and ceiling? It's the spare room in question and mould has grown quite a lot. It looks awful and we’d like to get rid of it as soon as possible. I thought I would ask whether mould can simply be painted over and ‘suffocated’ if you’d like or do we need to get rid of it first? I’m planning to repaint these surfaces either way as they’re in need of an update.

    Mould on plaster boards

    Hi I've spotted mould on the plaster boards as the renovation is taking longer than expected. Will it's cause an issue later on an how should I deal with it? New plaster boards? My builder said it's nothing an just gave it a wipe down. Buy I'm spending soo much on renovating I don't really want anyone issues later on with mould growth. Thank you

    Plastering under window sill

    Hi. Could I ask please. Our house was re plastered. New interior window sills (plastic) were fitted. I’m wondering if the plaster should go right up to the sill. Not only are there draughts the plaster doesn’t finish properly (in a straight line) but you can also see bare brick. I’m not sure if I’m just being picky or whether this is shoddy work.

    Changes to front porch

    Hi there, I just bought a house and there's a small porch and WC that was added to the original property. The wall beside the entrance door seems to be made of plywood on the bottom and the tip is made of glass. I'd like to have it changed to something that at least look like a proper wall, even if it's not. My question is: do I need a builder or a carpenter to do the job? Also, do I need planning permission for this change? Thank you so much for any advice. I'm also open to quotations if you feel you could do the job, please.

    What is the best adhesive for new floor tiles?

    Hi All, I have a ply lined bathroom floor and would like to know which adhesive would be best for porcelain floor tiles (600mm x 600mm). Does anyone have any suggestions? Currently, I have some leftover unibond ave a 20kg bag of unibond rapid set ceramic floor tile adhesive cement based left over from another.

    Good Afternoon I am a Landlord in Scotland. My smoke, heat and carbon monoxide detectors are all installed as per regulatory requirements with the recent addition of a hard-wired carbon monoxide detector. Whilst I understand the carbon monoxide detector is not required to be interlinked to the smoke / heat detectors, where it is possible to do so, would the recommendation be for these to be interlinked? The manufacturer, Aico, has confirmed they can indeed be interlinked however the Electrician who installed them has a different view. I would appreciate any advice you may be able to offer as I'd rather make the correct choice. Kind Regards Brad
