  • Installing staircase banisters

We have just bought our first family home but the staircase is open on one side. Obviously this is unsafe so I want some sort of handrail/banister. How much will it cost to add a banister or handrail to the open ended staircase? Its 12 steps to the top. I'm not too fussed about the material, just need to know roughtly how much it would cost? How much would glass stair balustrade panels cost?

Removal of lead paint in old house

Have any experienced painters had to remove lead paint before? Is it dangerous to do yourself? Is it better/safer/cheaper to remove it from timer door and bay window frames or remove and replace them with MDF?

    Plastering under window sill

Hi. Could I ask please. Our house was re plastered. New interior window sills (plastic) were fitted. I’m wondering if the plaster should go right up to the sill. Not only are there draughts the plaster doesn’t finish properly (in a straight line) but you can also see bare brick. I’m not sure if I’m just being picky or whether this is shoddy work.
