Neighbour’s have just had a new roof and their roofer has bonded in the original very old tiles from when these houses were constructed 1950-60’s into my 5-6 year old roof. The old tiles have also been painted previously. They have used a bonding gutter in between but have put old tiles every other tile going down my roof front and back. Should the roofer not have found similar new tiles like mine and used them? Rather than the old painted tiles which were obviously at the end of their service life which is obviously why the neighbour was changing their roof.
Hi - I have been told that I may have japanese knotweed in the back garden, how do I go about checking this and then removing it? Do I need a specialist?
Hello! I'm replacing my 4 plate Hotpoint gas cooker (60cm; Electrical Load = 4.93kW) with a 6 plate Duel Fuel ILVE range cooker (100cm, Electrical Load = 5.1(kW). Can I use the same cooker socket I'm currently using, or do I need a higher voltage socket? Also, is this possible to self-instal, or does it need an electrician? Thanks, Christine
Hello all I am planning on having the same carpet fitted across multiple rooms in my home. Are carpet door bars going to be required even if it is the same joined carpet between the rooms? Will it help to keep the carpets fitted, neat, etc? Is there any other options instead for the door bars which still allow the carpet to be fitted across rooms?
Hi, I have recently had a repair done on my stop tap. The plumber removed the outside tap as a quick repair. He came back the next day to do the repair. After he finished the job i asked him about the outside tap. He said sorry i forgot to connect it. So off her went and reconnected the outside tap. My question is he's not fitted a DCV or a way for me to isolate the water during winter. There wasn't a DCV installed before but does he not need to install one now? Thanks
Why might stumps or joists have worn and eroded over time? What can I do about this?
Please help. Dog knocked over red wine onto the carpet and its left a stain. How can I get rid of the red stain?
I have just bought a top floor flat in a Victorian building that can been converted into 4 flats. My builder found that there is only one water supply to the whole building, rather than to each flat. I have found that because of this, my water will constantly shut off (I’m assuming this is when someone else in the building is using the water). Is there anything that I can do about this?! Thanks in advance, Jo
I have a bedroom which is part of an extension with 3 outer walls. The room Is freezing and I have cut a hole in the ceiling to see if there is loft insulation up there. There is 150mm, however they have placed it over the joists not in between them, meaning there is a gap between the ceiling plasterboard and insulation. Would this be the cause of the room being so cold? Will cold air from the eaves circulate in this space and cause the cold?
Hi. We have a single detached garage with workshop with a driveway up to it. We're wanting to build a flat on top of it to allow one of our children to move out! It's so expensive here. Where do we start? Do we need an architect or can a builder undertake the project for us. We're not sure what the foundations are like. There is electricity but we'll need water and gas connected.
