Hi, how can I re-evaluate a build control application if my first attempt to gain building control approval is rejected? What are the main steps toward making an application more likely to succeed?
My neighbour is replacing his roof, as we are terraced property they have split the houses in half. I have mentioned a buttering gutter to protect against weather, covering the join area, can anyone advise if any building regulations are in place covering the installation of buttering gutter, as they will start retiling next week
Our neighbour’s tree is hanging into our garden and blocking the light. If we want it cut back, is that our cost or theirs? Can't find a clear answer to this online
I have concrete/masonry external window sills. I have repeatedly treated the sills with a recommended white sealer however rain drips from the gutters keep eroding the edge of the sills. How do I deal with this?
The current ensuite is 8’6” x 4’10” with a tiled shower cubicle, WC, pedestal sink and a radiator. What is involved with converting the room into a wet room? I’m guessing the biggest job is removing the floor to replace with waterproof flooring and adding a drain. I’d like to put the rest of the suite back in after to save money. How much money should I be putting aside for this sort of job?
Hi, my decking has been painted with fence paint and has stripped and worn when rained a few days later. Can I paint decking paint ontop of the fence paint or do I have to remove it first?
How do I work out the best place for my cooker and sink to go in the kitchen? Are there any no-no's?
We have a cylinder that can run on electric but also gets heated when the oil burner heats the house. However, our shower is electric that means we heat up the water for the shower even if the cylinder is full of hot water. Could a set-up work where a thermostatic mixer tap would get cold and hot water, mix it to say 40C (if there is hot water in the cylinder) and this would feed the electric shower? If the water that come in is warm enough already, it would not need to heat it (or just a little) if it come in cold, since there is no hot water in the cylinder, it would just work as an electric shower and heat the water. I could fit the mixer tap in the hot press right the opposite side of the wall to the shower.
Hi. Should my neighbour have consulted with me over a roof issue. They had a dry verge system installed on the roof ridge that joins our house. Aside from not informing us the job seems a little less than satisfactory as the ridge is now not flat. Also some mortar on our side is still showing
