  • Gas boiler water temperature

How long should water stay warm with a gas boiler before cooling down again? I want to know how long I should expect the water to stay hot after heating up to use a shower at some point later that day.

    Part wall and Planning Permission

I am considering buying a semi-detached property in London borough of Hounslow. If my offer is accepted, can I serve the party wall notice? Can I also start the planning permission process or would it need to be submitted under the name of current owner?

    Garden drainage help

We've got puddles forming on clay soil or garden in our new. What's an appropriate drainage solution? As the external floor was very high and leading to bridging or damp course we've removed it and dug down around 8-10 inches in that area. We've got through some concrete and type one and now found clay which the water sits on. Should I dig further into the clay or just lay something drainable on top? We've removed the concrete along the rest of the side return but not yet dug the type one away there. We have a manhole at the back of our garden which we could potentially channel water towards. Should we remove dig the whole of the side return to the same level? Currently, at least there is plenty of depth below the rear wall meaning it won't bridge the damp course but as it's now the lowest point in the garden I'm concerned that water in the rest of the garden may drain towards that area and cause problems.

    Loft Header Tank

Hi, My small loft header tank in the loft is overflowing when the hot water/heating is switched on. It’s fine when the heating/water are off, but starts up again when it comes on again. It started with a few drips a few weeks ago to a slow flow now, which lasts for about 10-15 minutes when the heating/water initially comes on and then stops dripping again. Any ideas?

Can wood flooring be laid on concrete?

So I’ve a concrete floor in my property. Is it okay to fit a wood floor directly atop it or should this be avoided? Are there some scenarios where it would be okay and others where it would not work? Thanks.
