Windows and brickwork

I’m asking for my church
Would you build a big brick window arch approx 2.5 meters wide by 3 meters high around your window frame soft wood no central support or would you frame it out first then put a window in this was done in the 1920s

"I would have a special lintle made it’s never a good idea to build brickwork directly onto window frames you could use a wooden template but a steel lintle would be the way I would do it"

"I would make an arch former and frame it out, that’s the traditional and modern way of doing it."

"You would always make up a centre ( temporary support) to support the arch whilst building it. A lintol is not reqd as an arch of any discription is self supporting when fully cured. I have cut & built many over a lifetime of bricklaying and I can assure you it is the only way, unless you want you want a disaster in your no doubt lovely church."

"I would frame it out, and make sure the right HD lintel was put in to take the weight of the arch."

"There isn’t many pros and cons here you can either create your own Formwork for the arch or let the window frame be the Formwork , people do it either way.
although with this being a wooden framed window building the arch first the fitting window could give you the opportunity to leave 10mm for expansion and contraction so personally I would probably lean towards that’s option. That said there will obviously be slightly more work this way,"

"frame it out first so there is a support due to the age of the building"

"Modern brick arches are generally built around a purpose made arched steel lintel"
