Who is my main contact when having a house build?

During the construction of a house by a house building company, who would be my primary point of contact? Might this depend on the company in question etc.? I am only considering having a house built at this stage but I thought I’d ask.

"This would depend on what and who you will be contracting to carry out the works. If you are employing an "all-in-one" company, they will have a project manager/site manager as a point of contract. If you are hoping to project manage yourself, in the first instance would be your architect but then any council/house-builder regulators to ensure correct compliance."

"You would need to go and arrange an appointment with an architect !! This would be your first point of call !! They then may be able to recommend a trusted builder to build and complete your project !!"

"Smaller firms will have an owner who will be the overall control, with a senior trade workman on the job. Some owners also work with their teams. Establish this first of all to know who to talk to about various aspects"

"Your first point of daily contact on-site would be the foreman or project manager, depending on the company structure. If not then it would be with the company manager direct at the office. If you still feel let down always have a building inspector to question"

"Depending on the contractor you appoint this can vary, we always have a single point of contact for each project, usually in the form of a foreman, or working foreman depending on the project size
We undertake all architectural and structural plans as part of our project package so never have cross wires on designs and makes builds much simpler to undertake"

"When we build a new build house for a client we would generally have a project manager in place. It's important that you can communicate with one person and that they are somewhat accountable. It may depend on the company that you are hiring and how big they are though. Always look for recommendations as it's important that you choose the right company for the job. Good communication is so important to ensure that you get the end result you want."
