"Hi it means the floor is fixed down to the sub floor ( ie not glued or nailed ) so it can move and expand"

"“Floating flooring” refers to the construction of flooring material that's essentially locked together using a system similar to puzzle pieces. The floorboards fit together, creating a tight bond and allowing your floor to be stable without any actual attachment to the subfloor."

"A floated floor simply means not bonded to the subfloor. Effectively just hovering over the top of the substrate."

"A floating floor is a loose laid system with no mechanical fixings .basically it's on a underlay and either click together or tongue and groove system glued together , with a expansion gap around the edge which allows the floor to move with its natural expansion hence floating opposed to a directly stuck down system .
The expansion gap is then covered with a trim or scotia mould"

"As it says really , a floor that's not secured to a subfloor which will move around slightly as it shrinks and grows with seasonal changes.

All click plank instalation and LVT click for example would be a floating floor."

"It basically means that the floor is not fixed, nailed or glued, to the subfloor.
The floor is installed and floating as it has not been fixed down. Hence why you can feel/see a bounce or movement, when walking on it."

"A floating floor just means the floor isnt fixed down in any way usually 120mm concreate base on visquin with 130mm kingspan and then 22mm chipboard flooring on top with all joints glued together with a 10mm gap round to allow for expansion which is covered afterwards with plasterboards and skirting boards hope this helps"
