Vinyl vs laminate flooring cost

redoing the kitchen and hallway floors and cant decide between vinyl and laminate. which works out cheaper fitted, and which lasts better with kids and a dog

to be honest id be looking at lvt gluedown most brands come with thirty yearwarrenty and also say for example one tile got damaged you just heat it up pull it out re glue and new plank in.

Laminate is more expensive but more hard wearing and will last a lot longer than vinyl, with kids and dog you wouldn’t want replace it again after a few years so laminate would be my choice

Considering cost vinyl is cheaper but safe and long lasting is laminate.  Laminate labour cost £15  onwards per square meter

The best choice is Laminate flooring.with dogs and Kids Vinyl isn't the best choice unless you go for commercial vinyl flooring.laminate will be on expensive side but not much.

For a kitchen + hallway with kids and a dog, I’d lean toward good-quality LVT/vinyl, even though laminate is cheaper initially.

I would say vinyl is cheaper but for durability with kids and a dog you would want laminate due to the dog can pierce the vinyl with their claws

In most cases when fitting vinyl flooring , you would best advised to subfloor with 6mm plywood. This would up the labour cost and time. Both jobs would therefore take around the same effort and labour. costs similar. Laminate flooring probably harder wearing but vinyl flooring possibly mote popular.

Vinyl is usually cheaper to fit than laminate, especially if the subfloor is already in good condition. For a kitchen and hallway with kids and a dog, I’d normally choose a good quality vinyl or LVT because it handles water, spills and everyday wear better. Laminate can be cheaper to buy, but it is more sensitive to moisture and damaged boards are harder to deal with.
