What thickness underlay for engineered wood flooring

I'm planning out a lounge renovation, but one thing is tripping me up and I'm getting lots of mixed answers. Just need to know what type and thickness of underlay to use for engineered wood flooring. And what kind of cost am I looking at?

"“For engineered wood flooring we usually use a 2–3 mm underlay. Over concrete it needs a built-in moisture barrier; thicker 3–5 mm is only used if extra sound reduction is needed and the manufacturer allows it. Underlay typically costs £2–£10 per m², depending on the type.” and if you want to know the labour charges it depends on how much area is to work."

"3-6 mm ...The best underlay for engineered wood flooring depends on the installation method (floating, nail-down, or glue-down) and factors like subfloor type, moisture levels, and desired sound insulation. Engineered wood is versatile, but underlay helps with noise reduction, moisture protection, and minor subfloor leveling."

"For engineered wood you normally use a foam or rubber underlay with a built-in vapour barrier. Most are around 2–3mm thick, or up to 5–6mm if you want extra sound reduction. If it’s going over concrete you definitely need the damp proof layer.
Underlay usually costs around £1–£6 per m² depending on the type. Best thing is to match the underlay to the flooring manufacturer’s recommendation so you don’t affect the warranty."
