"A smart hub is a piece of equipment similar to your broadband hub, however it deals only with smart products.

Usually each manufacturer has their own hub as they all work on slightly different protocols.

You would only need one if you had a smart product such as wireless switches or heating Controls that you can operate via the Internet from your phone.

As smart technology becomes cheaper and more widely available more homes will require these to be installed. Especially with electric car chargers and energy monitoring coming to the forefront."

"Hi

You may want to either listen to a few videos you can watch on YouTube to give you a taster to a book called The Invisible Rainbow by Arthur Firstenberg. This will give you a good foundation to the negative health effects that these "SMART" devices have on all biological life. With the science & experts in the field quite clear on the effects, it would be well worth investing the time into a few videos & the book & then deciding if you think you still want to bring more "SMART" devices into your home.

There is a wealth of information & scientific studies that will help you make the right choice for yourself & your family if you just search a bit. If you have any questions, feel free to ask."

"A smart home hub is essentially the brain of your smart home, tying all your tech together on one centralised platform. This can include devices such as smart lights, thermostats, cameras and more.

Smart hubs collect and translate protocol communications that come from all these different devices. In normal language this means they allow different pieces of kit to talk to one another!

Using a smart hub also makes managing all your smart tech really simple as you can control everything through one smart home app. You can even get them to work together seamlessly around your home.

For example, you could connect a sensor by the front door up to your smart thermostat and smart lights. So as soon as you get home the lights will turn on and the heating will turn up."

"A smart home hub is hardware or software that connects devices on a home automation network and controls communications among them. Smart home hubs, which connect either locally or to the cloud, are useful for internet of things (IoT) devices that use the Zigbee or Z-Wave protocols or Bluetooth, rather than Wi-Fi."
