"120 for bare plaster, and 220 onwards for your fine finish. Would never go down to a 60 or 80 on bare plaster. If you are having to, then call your plasterer back!"

"Too key an prepare a fresh plaster wall / ceiling I would suggest a medium to fine grade sandpaper which will give a light key for surfaces before they receive a first coat of watered down paint."

"I would suggest a fine grit I wouldn’t go any more course than that finer towards the end when you seem to think it’s looking finished"

"should not need sanding only if prep needs a little filler sand that with 180-400grit lightly, always mist coat forst with 50-50 water and contract emulsion"

"None!!! Fresh plaster should never be rubbed down! Get your plasterer back to replaster it!

If that’s a touchy subject then whip 80G over it.

Hope this helped you out.

Thank you

"You’d normally work through the grits: start around 80–120 to level imperfections, move to 120–180 to smooth things out, then finish with 220–320 for a paint‑ready surface. Light pressure all the way so you don’t over‑sand."

"Start with a low grit and work your way up to 200+, depending on how the wall is going to be covered and how perfect you want the finish to be. Definitely go for the highest grit you can if its going to be painted but wallpaper has a lot more forgiveness"

"120-150 grit for the general sanding of walls/ceilings.
180-220 grit for the final sanding before painting.
Hope this helps."
