"Wetting the wall before plastering is never a good idea. You would need to seal the wall with a PVA sealant before plastering depending on the wall plastering. If you have many big defects i.e. holes in the wall, you will need to use bonding before plastering. Please refer to a expert builder"

"always prime a wall with necessary priming agent for example most walls take a water to pva glue mix for a prime coat and more porous walls require the likes of blue grit"

"Hi,

If your wall is back to bear brickwork then the answer is yes, to remove any excess dust. If its blockwork its no and if it is existing plaster it needs PVA not wetting.

Hope this helps."

"It completely depends on the wall you are plastering ie what background you are plastering over and also whether you are talking about interior skimming or exterior rendering. To be honest more information would be needed before I could accurately answer this question."

"If the wall is brick or there are building blocks exposed, the answer is yes: you should wet the wall before plastering to prevent the plaster from drying too quickly.

A bare dry brick or block will suck water from the mortar and proper adhesion will not take place."

"Know if the walls are already plastered then use a PVA on the walls if the walls are painted then you have to use a blue grit paint so the plaster can stick to the walls not the paint if the walls are are plaster boarded then just plaster over the boards with two coats of plaster"
