Sun rooms and orangeries

Is there any difference between a sun room and an orangery? The term seems to be interchangeable but aren't they the same thing? If not, please explain the difference as we'll be looking to get a sun room added this year.

"Sunrooms and Orangeries are very different. A sunroom is generally a modern term for an extension intended to be used as a living space rather than, for example, a kitchen. A sunroom will have walls of solid construction and a largely solid roof of either the tiled or flat variety.

In contrast, an orangery has a much more considerable amount of glazing with solid corner piers - the roof will also be like one giant roof lantern and usually incorporates a concealed gutter.

Hope this helps."

"There is no difference between the two it’s just a term that differs from company to company"

"Hi. I’d always go for a sunroom for expense etc. there’s minimal difference its all about the roof really. I work for Norfolk Broads exteriors. We av great reviews. Would you like a quote. Are you local."

"Orangery is a solid structure with a roof light
A sun room is cased as a temporary structure normally more than 50% glazed
Temporary means it can be dismantled and removed"
