Fill in a glass conservatory roof

We have a glass conservatory roof. What's the cheapest way to insulate and cover it so it looks like a room with a ceiling?

"There's no safe and secure way to do this. The roofs aren't designed to take the additional weight. They become very unstable and begin to leak. In some instances collapse.

Only cowboys carry out that type of work and there is a lot of them around at present.

The only real way is to fully remove existing roof and fully replace with a lightweight roof kit. One that's built to suit it's purpose. Prefabricated in a factory.

Don't get bitten by these dodgy firms offering over/underclad jobs.
We've been out to lots and had to pull them down.

Good luck!"

"In my experience the best way is to take the existing roof off, install a timber frame,, insulate and use lightweight tiles. They look like slate. Insulate underside with insulated plaster board and plaster. This gives you the option to have spotlights in the celing. You can incorporate velux roof lights. There are cheaper options but in the long run not cost effective."

"Hi Zoe, we only fit insulated tile roof on conservatory. They meet building regulations. Kind regards John"

"My advice would be to remove full building to ground level and redesign external walls to structurally suit a full new roof that fits your requirements

Conservatories aren’t designed to be insulated
Also it builds up to much heat and can’t escape
Causing an expansion and contracting problem
And your insulated areas would start sweating and eventually start to smell."

"Replace the roof panels with opaque panels and or clad the internal surface with lightweight insulation and white pvc cladding"
