Skim coat hairline cracks a year later

Hello

I need some advice I got my house skimmed last year the guy done a terrible job finishing not great

Anyway I had all the walls painted etc . I have now noticed a year later every wall and ceiling has cracks appearing . When you knock in these areas it feels hollow . What could have caused this ?

Would this likely get worse over time ? My concern is I make the cracks bigger use flexible filler and repaint and the cracks or more re-appear

I am absolutely gutted !

"hello,
This with cracks you can not play.. I can give you advice that will cost you a little, but you will never have problems again

You have to do the plaster again, but before plastering, it has to be primed then bonding and mesh and then plasterer, and a good job comes out"

"Seems like he hasn’t taped cracks before plastering but hard to tell without pictures"

"Hi,
It sounds to me like the plaster has blown which in my experience is normally because the preparation before applying the plaster was not done correctly and the plaster has not adhered properly. Unfortunately in order to rectify the problem correctly it will require removing any blown areas and re-skimming them ( patch repairs if the blown areas are not to big)

Hope this helps, please feel free to contact us if need be.

All the best"

"there are many variables that could cause this problem.
it more than likely has something to do with poor prep work
ie. no PVA / Scrim Tape"

"Hi if your wall sounds hollow it sounds like your walls are blown so u will get cracks this means all hollow bits will have to come off and be bonded then skimmed over"
