shower water pressure

We have a new INTA Trade-Tec Thermostatic Bath Shower Mixer and Kit installed but the shower is very low pressure. We have a gravity fed system. Is it possible to fit pressure boosting shower head to increase flow?

"Yes fit twin pump will give you full pressure

A shower pump will resolve your issue"

"Hi yes certainly you can fit a booster pump and that will increase the pressure"

"Possibly, but it’s all to do with how much water your header tank can hold. So that the pump doesn’t empty it before it refills itself. As a general answer. No you can’t have gravity hot water running correctly through that type of mixer tap"

"On a gravity-fed system, changing the shower head will not increase actual pressure, only the spray pattern.
“Pressure boosting” heads may feel slightly better but won’t fix low flow.
Many thermostatic mixers need a minimum pressure and can restrict flow on gravity systems.
Check the mixer is low-pressure compatible and any restrictors are removed if allowed.
For a real improvement, a shower pump or system upgrade is usually required."

"You can change the shower unit to a mains feed
It does mean that the existing shower will have to be replaced, but for high pressure you need it connected to the mains as this normally comes in to the property at about three bar which is sufficient enough for a pressurised shower"

"Thermostatic mixers like the INTA Trade‑Tec usually need a minimum pressure on both hot and cold to work properly. On gravity systems, that’s often too low, which is why the flow is weak.

If you want a real improvement, you’d be looking at:
• A shower pump (twin impeller) to boost hot and cold
• Or converting to a mains‑pressure system in the future

A “high‑pressure” shower head won’t solve the underlying problem.

"It is possible to fit a booster pump to your existing system. A pressure boosting shower head will only go so far as to creating better pressurised flow and generally stores it before releasing, so a good pressure is required in the initial system for it to work to its optimum really"

"First you can check your mixer filters from debris with can reduce water pressure.
If the filters are clean best option to install twin impeller shower boost pump."

"Yes — you can fit a pressure-boosting shower head to improve the flow, but it’s important to understand a few limitations given you have a gravity-fed system.
✅ Why the Low Pressure Happens
Gravity-fed systems rely on water stored in cold and (if fitted) hot tanks in the loft. They typically produce:
Low pressure at the shower (often ~0.2–0.5 bar)
Little to no spray force unless fed by a pump
A thermostatic mixer like your INTA Trade-Tec Bath Shower Mixer will prioritise temperature stability over flow, which can also reduce feel of pressure when the incoming supply is weak."

"Changing the shower head will not solve the problem, since its a new installation it would be wise for the system to be checked for any debris, if the checks are fine and you have a continuous flow of low pressure, then I would suggest a booster water pump of some kind.

kind regards"
