"Hi Richard. If the artex is sound and not overly cracked then it’s cheaper to scrape it back and skim over it.

A room that size I would charge between £500-£600. (Estimate as I haven’t seen the job)"

"It is cheaper to just skim over the artex rather than board this is however providing the artex passes asbestos checks prior to any work carried out."

"Hi Richard

First of all if the ceiling is artexed you should be aware that artex may have asbestos in it (Health & Safety 101) it would be more cost effective to simply plaster over the artex .finish to the ceiling is based on the plasterer and the depth of the artex , although you should always be able to get a good finish fir painting. Finally cost dependent on depth of artex and condition of walls can be anywhere from £550 to £680 hope this helps"

"It isn't easy to plaster over the top of artex, and a lot less mess as well I would charge £750 for that"
