"If only swap old fitting to new one not involved fault finding and rewiring about 50£"

"Hello,

If your wiring system is suitable for adaptation and there is suitable means for providing fixings suitable for the weight of the fan, typicaly a joist or nogging between joists. Then I suggest that the installation -test -minor works certificate would be approximatley 2 hours possible parking fees and obviously depend on your geographic location."

"For what you’re describing—wiring and fitting a new E27 ceiling fan light onto an existing ceiling light point—this is a straightforward job for a qualified electrician, assuming the wiring is already there.

💷 Typical cost (UK)

For a job like yours (using existing ceiling wiring and just fitting your supplied unit), you can expect:
• £50 – £100 → simple like-for-like fitting
• £80 – £150 (typical in London)
• Up to £200 if slightly more complex (e.g. heavy fan, bracket fitting, or wiring adjustments)

👉 Most standard light fittings fall in this range, especially when replacing an existing ceiling rose

🔧 What affects the price

Your exact cost depends on a few things:

✅ Cheaper / straightforward (£50–£100)
• Existing ceiling light already in place
• Wiring is modern and in good condition
• Fan/light is lightweight and simple to connect

⚠️ Slightly higher cost (£100–£200)
• Ceiling fan is heavy and needs proper support bracket
• Wiring needs adapting (e.g. separate fan/light controls)
• Old or confusing wiring (common in older UK homes)

❗ More expensive (£150–£300+)
• No existing ceiling wiring
• New switch or wiring needed
• Ceiling reinforcement required

Installing new wiring rather than replacing can push costs up to £150–£300+

⏱️ How long it takes
• Usually 30 minutes to 1.5 hours for a standard install
• Slightly longer for ceiling fans due to mounting and balancing

⚠️ Important note about ceiling fans

Ceiling fan lights are heavier than normal lights, so:
• The electrician may need to secure it to a joist or install a support bracket
• This is normal and worth doing properly for safety

✅ Professional recommendation
• Yes, this is a routine job for any electrician
• Expect to pay around £80–£120 in most cases
• Always confirm:
• “Existing wiring in place”
• “Fan-rated support if needed”

✔️ Bottom line

If you already have a ceiling light point, this is a quick, low-cost job—and definitely worth getting done professionally for safety and proper mounting."
