Realistic carpet removal cost

Need to get new carpets installed, but the quotes I've got for just removing the carpets from the whole house seem a bit excessive. I'm in a 4 bedroom detached and they want £1000 to take it out and away. Is this reasonable? It just seems a bit too much to me, but I'd like to know what experts think about this

"I would say far too excessive from my experience most places are different but usually around £25-£50 per room depending on size of the rooms or area that's getting removed."

"It seems a bit high, but they will probably have to pay a fee for taking it to the dump."

"Sound very expensive I’d say £600 maximum would certainly cover costs or hire a van cheaper and take it local skip for say £100"

"1,000 just to uplift and dispose of old carpets in a 4-bed detached is on the high side.
Typical uplift and disposal costs are usually £200–£500 depending on size, access, and waste fees. You’d only reach £1,000 if the carpets are very heavy, glued down, or include a full house of underlay and gripper removal with expensive disposal charges.

Getting a couple more quotes or asking for the breakdown (labour vs disposal) is reasonable."

"Ridiculous cost if I'm supplying your new carpets I would remove the old ones free of charge"

"Its is a little bit more to be honest they should have charged you£850"

"£1000 is definitely excessive. £700 is probably the max it should be. I’d suggest getting more quotes.

If there’s a lot of furniture that needs moving in every room etc

If all you need is to get carpets out and removed I can help."

"That's excessive.
Perhaps hire a skip and do yourself.
It's all about cost of disposal.
Too cheap invites fly tipping.. I would expect around 600 if the rooms are completely empty"

"Hi, cost of removal vary significantly due to disposal costs. As we can’t use local authorities tilling sites traders rely on hiring skips etc to dispose of waste. Personally I would post your job on this site and get x3 quotes and compare the difference"
