"Hi, flat pack has its place . Cost and if your access is not so good it’s perfect. But pre built is normally better."

"Flat packs are just as good as pre-built units, but they must be built correctly to ensure strength and stability. A handyman can charge from 60 to 200 pounds depending on the size, so this should be considered when purchasing."

"Flat pack furniture is cheap and convenient but is not normally as rigid or sturdy and does not like to be moved about to much . And you normally need a large space to assemble it in ."

"They can be low quality if cheaper brand are bought. But over all most are quite adequate.
As long as they are build close to where they will stand long term.flat pack dose not like to be moved around to much.
The joining clips and parts can work loose.
Best to build where it will be standing."

"Hi Jenny,

The 4 main advantages of flat pack are ease of transport ie a small vehicle, easier to get into the house/flat and through doorways, modular assembly and usually a cheaper purchase price.

The potential disadvantage of flat pack is if it not assembled correctly it will be weak and could fall apart. However if assembled correctly it can be as strong or in some cases stronger that preassembled.

I can highly recommend Ikea and Oak Furniture World flat packs, but you try and avoid Wayfair, eBay and Amazon flat packs."

"Flat pack is good for the cost but does not last in my opinion.

I would always put pre assembled ahead of flat pack."
