"Hi I would highly recommend a good wood preserver. Or decking sealer. It will create a waterproof face to the wood. Not allowing water in so fast as untreated decking. Ronseal do a great decking preserver. You can find it at all good DIY shops. Hope this helps regards adam asap landscapes"

"Sealant, stain, and paint can all be applied to a deck for different degrees of protection. Sealants are primarily used to protect against moisture damage. They contain waterproof or water repellant properties and have a thicker viscosity than stains."

"Put some decking sealer like ronseal decking sealer, and re seal it annually so it would lock out the moisture, to prevent water soaking into the cracks."
