Poorly fitted carpet

We recently had hall, stairs, landing, lounge & dining room carpet fitted with underlay onto wood floors and they have glued and used grippers but the carpet has come away from one part of the fireplace and is fraying as if it has been cut too short, where the carpet goes upto the grippers and is tucked in it does not look flat but slopes near the skirting, it has round dents in the carpet in corners, is loose on the stairs where it comes down to the stair you stand on, if you run your hand at the back of the stairs where the drop and flat part join you can feel the wood with no carpet in place and on several stairs the gripper spikes stick through the carpet.
please can someone advise whether I am right to complain and ask for this carpet to be replaced as I feel that they will just try to do a quick cheap repair. Also the fitter and his assistant were only here for under 2hrs to complete all of this work so was this rushed (the lounge and dining room are not small area).

"You have every right to complain, this sounds to be a rushed job, and hasn't been prepared or fitted properly. A rush job."

"This sounds more like a cowboy job if your noticing a handful of problems in the manor of quickness I can be fast also if there is more than me on the job but carpets should all be stretched and properly fitted and not be coming up like you have stated. Firstly I’d defo get the fitter back to sort all the issues you have and I alwasy work to a high standard and would always retify any issues a client would have. Realy does sound like bad prep on the stairs and not stretched properly on big areas. Many thanks lee"

"Yes you should complain as the carpet was Either measured wrong or cut to short."

"I'd definitely be asking for someone to come take a look at it. 2 hours is very quick if its full prep. If the gripper is coming through the carpet on the tred and or riser. That's because it's a thin carpet and not the fault of the lads but tapping it with a hammer will flatten them so no one gets there feet hurt. Around fire hearth is often bodged up by the people who install the hearth and likely they've sprayed it to underlay if its what I assume. Definitely get someone to come back. You can always ask for someone different"

"Hi if you are not happy with the work then you are within your right to.complain and a good tradesman would be happy to.come back and offer to rectify if you feel the job was not completed correctly.

Also remember if you went with the cheapest option then sometimes this happens look around for recommendations and companies with good reviews."
