Painting over wood knots

Do I need a special paint to stop wood knots showing through or is a primer good enough?

"Hi, you need to purchase a product called "Knotting solution"

You apply it to all knots on bare wood to stop the visual signs penetrative through the undercoat and gloss

Cheers

"You will need to get a Notting solution you can get it from pretty much any hardware shop or screwfix. If your painting it I would go with a shellac based primer like zinser bin give 2 coats and youll be good to go"

"Hello

I would always recommend a specialist wood knot paint. A lot of primers will say they have stain block in them but if a wood know ‘leaks’ it will show through even with the best primer. Ro seal do a good wood knot block primer but I’ve had mixed results with it, I always not use a knot sealant before using a stain block primer.
Hope this helps!
