Painting over gloss

My daughter has used primer instead of undercoat on the skirting boards and door which was previously glossed and rubbed down. Do I still need to do an undercoat before glossing?

"As long as its rubbed down. a primer is sufficient enough for you gloss over again"

"You would get a better finish if it was undercoated"

"You should be alright to go straight on with gloss
If the primer’s gone on evenly and it’s got a decent, solid coverage, it’ll do the job of an undercoat as well. I’d just give it a light sand to key it, then go with 1–2 coats of gloss.
Only worth adding an undercoat now if it looks patchy or thin, otherwise you won’t gain much from it.

"Because you already had gloss I would have just painted over the gloss but its important to sand it down first"

"You should be fine with just a light sand for a key and then just gloss"

"As long as the primer was painted evenly and doesn’t have any light or dark spots it’s absolutely fine to just gloss over the top"
