Painting bare wood stair rail

Hi I've sanded old gloss off stair rails and it's bare smooth wood can I use dulux quick dry striaght on top without undercoat as it's self undercoated paint

"I would always recommend using a primer or an undercoat, even with paint that says it self undercoats. I’d hugely recommend the Dulux Trade Quick Dry Wood Primer Undercoat. It’ll help give the top coat something better to adhere to, the wood will keep the colour painted on better and ensure much better coverage. One coat of this, followed by two coats of the Quick Dry Satin/Gloss will do just the job."

"If it’s self undercoated then would be okay.. however I would still put a primer first just to be on the safe side"

"Yes. If it not new wood and old painted then you can paint without undercoat"
