Painted living room window

My husband and I have a very out there idea for our living room window. We want to have one way glass window installed which is then painted over on the front to look like the inside of a living room. Is this possible or will the paint totally block sunlight getting in? We don't mind if we can't see much outside, we just want sunlight to come in. Is this at all possible or safe? Would it ever get planning approval?

"You don't need permission from Council. And it is absolutely ok what you want to keep."

"Hi,
If you painted on the outside of one way glass the paint or medium would have to have a certain level of transparency, otherwise you will not see out and no light would get in"

"The paint will block the sunlight if you achieve the effect I think you are wanting. 1way glass/film relies upon a highly reflective surface, I do not believe a Matt effect would work which is what you would need to achieve the look of a front room from outside"

"Your best way is to look at stain glass then you can have what ever you want all be it a little bit expensive"

"Not a good idea sorry. Condensation and all 4 seasons will peel the paint from the glass in my opinion."

"The painting is being shown in a sunny room with plenty of windows. The new owners (and myself) want to protect it as much as possible from the long term effects of sun damage (if applicable…). It should now be dry enough for a final varnish. I see a lot of different varnishes that promise “UV protection”, but after some research I’m still left with a lot of questions.

Its not necessarily in direct sunlight, but as the sun rises and sets it is varying amount of sunlight. As you can see in the photo – the sunlight is moving across it. I’m not totally sure if its even an issue, but my clients were concerned, so I want to make sure I address the issue and take whatever steps I can to conserve it.

I have two basic options – finding a varnish (I prefer to only work with spray varnishes) that will protect the painting from the sun. OR. Putting a UV protection of some sort on the window itself, that will not effect the look of the window (for example a dark tint is not acceptable). I’m fairly certain there are window films that would be a good option.

Moving the painting or putting the painting under glass is not an option."

"It will block the light that's coming through the window but I think you'll get the approval"
