"There are a few things you can do to reduce the number of boxes needed when packing your belongings:
Use large boxes: Pack larger, lightweight items in larger boxes, such as bedding and linens, to take up less space.
Use small boxes for heavy items: Pack heavier items, such as books, in small boxes so that they're not too heavy to lift.
Fill the empty space: Make sure to fill any empty space in the boxes with packing materials, such as packing peanuts or crumpled newspaper, to prevent items from shifting during transport.
Use vacuum-sealed bags: Pack clothing and other lightweight, bulky items in vacuum-sealed bags to save space.
Use suitcases: Pack clothing and other items that you can fold or roll in your suitcases, this will also save you some boxes.
Use plastic bins: They are stackable and often have lids, so they are perfect for storing small items and keeping them together.
Get rid of things you do not need: Before packing, take the time to sort through your belongings and get rid of anything you no longer need or want. This will not only reduce the number of boxes you need, but it will also make unpacking at your new home much easier.
By following these tips, you can reduce the number of boxes you need for your move, which will make the process of packing and moving less overwhelming.
It's important to remember to label the boxes and their content, to make the unpacking process more efficient."

"Yes, there is definitely a knack to packing so you use fewer boxes and make the most of the space you do have. Smart packing is all about maximizing every inch of box volume and cutting down what you actually need to move. Here’s a clear, practical strategy that can help:"

"Yes there is a knack, if you pack in a similar fashion to completing a jigsaw ie heavy items at the bottom with onus fitting each item snug against each other right leaving no space for loose movements.
Hope this helps"

"This is a good question. Shapes fit into shapes, so try to keep items of similar size and shape in the same boxes so they fit together nicely like Tetris. However do not over fill your boxes as this can causes damage to your items and the boxes, resulting in lose items. It is always better to have more boxes at a manageable size weight to avoid breakages and injury."

"first declutter and downsize belongings, then strategically pack by placing heavy items at the bottom and filling all empty spaces with smaller items or soft goods like towels to Maximize box Utilisation. You can also use items to pack other items, such as using blankets as padding and for wrapping fragile goods, to eliminate the need for extra packing materials"

"Yes, there are definitely ways to reduce the number of boxes you’ll need with more efficient packing.
First, declutter before you pack. Moving is the ideal time to sort items into keep, donate, sell, or dispose. The fewer unnecessary items you move, the fewer boxes you’ll require.
When packing:
• Use the right size boxes – Heavy items (books, kitchenware) should go in smaller boxes to avoid wasted space and excessive weight. Larger boxes are better for lighter, bulky items like bedding and clothing.
• Fill every gap – Use towels, clothing, bedding, or soft furnishings as padding instead of packing paper. This both protects items and maximises space.
• Disassemble where possible – Take apart furniture, remove shelves, and stack items efficiently to reduce bulk.
• Nest items together – Place smaller items inside larger ones (e.g., cups inside bowls, items inside suitcases, drawers packed but secured).
• Avoid half-empty boxes – If a box isn’t full, top it up with soft items to eliminate wasted space.
That said, avoid overpacking to the point where boxes become too heavy or unsafe to lift. A well-packed, manageable box is better than one that’s crammed and likely to split.
With good organisation and efficient use of space, most households can noticeably reduce the number of boxes needed."

"It's always best to fill the boxes to the top so they do not crush. Smaller boxes for heavier items. Lots of padding like paper and bubble wrap for breakables."
