Old electric train set

I found an old electric train set in the attic of my late father's house. How do I know if it's safe to use?

"Hi the train set itself is safe as it is low voltage.
However the controler which comes with it is 240 volts so needs to be PAT (appliance tested) before use as could be dangerous if faulty
Please dont use before you get it tested.
Hope this helps, Stu"

"These questions get more and more bizarre. Take it to a model shop and get them to have a look at it! When I did my electrical apprenticeship it didn’t involve toy trains."

"Ask you electrician to do a PAT testing of your controller that is also your DC transformer for running the train on the tracks, nothing else need to be tested for security.

Now for your old train to work is recommended to rub the tracks and lubricate the mechanical part (I am a model enthusiast myself)"
