"Unless treated suitably, all wood spoils due to water exposure over time. Being a hard wood, oak would survive longer."

"No, hardwood flooring is not waterproof. Both engineered wood flooring and solid wood flooring can be water resistant to small amounts of water or liquid spillages, but they are in no way waterproof so any liquids should be wiped away from the surface of your flooring straight away."

"White oak is a great flooring choice. In fact, it's so durable and water-resistant, it's actually used to make boats! Talk about impervious to water. White oak is also considered one of the most durable wood flooring options on the market."
