"The only effective way of preventing these bees is to repoint areas of soft and perished mortar as the bees can only burrow into comparatively weak materials.

"They won't do an harm to the wall other than burrowing their way into the mortar which will be an aged building most likely buit with Lime/sand/cement mortar.
Long term solution will be rake out mortar joints and re-point."

"No, Masonry bees doesn’t harm the walls at all unless the mortar isn’t mixed as good as required. But try to find the holes from where the bees enter and exit. Fill them up something like mortar or expandable. The bees outside will go automatically after failing to go inside(process might take 2-3) and the bees and then queen bee inside will die itself(sounds bad) but it is what it is😐. Peace♥️"

"They are often seen on sunny days and active on sun facing elevations of buildings. At this time they are busy excavating egg laying chambers in soft mortar joints in brick walls. However there is no damage caused by these bees to good mortar. Slight damage may be caused to old and poorly maintained mortar."
