Labour costs for new bathroom

Hi there, we are turning our two adjoining en-suites into a family bathroom on the 2nd floor. We are going to do all the prep work, removing the existing bathrooms, knocking the wall through and sorting the doors. Essentially leaving an empty shell. To be re-plasterboarded, bathroom fit and tiled. Will also need electrician work for the lighting. We've been quoted £7.5k for labour.. does this seem reasonable?

"Hi Claire,

The things to consider are:

Plumber, plasterer, electrician, tiler, if these costs can be absorbed by a one stop firm who ca. do it all, or if they are having to get contractors in.

How big is the space? Typically a plasterer can do a room in 2 days which is giving plenty of time for setting and prepping etc

An electrician will be around £600 for the work, and channeling can be done prior to their arrival and save on their time.

Without knowing the size of the space I could not say re tiling time frames, but a plumber should be able to sort out and instal what was needed using the existing plumbing from the two en-suite and work to roughly 4 days max at about £1000.

I would say this is on the high side of a quote, based on what information we have been provided above I would be coming in around £5500. But there maybe quantities I’m not aware of and would normally discuss with a site visit and discussion of your works required.

I hope this is helpful and good luck with the works"

"Hi
I would think this price is about right, similar to what I would charge for a to quality job, if the job was local to me.
I would prefer to do all the structural work associated with the walls and doors etc., as we need the walls to be plumb and square to do a perfect job.
Where are you located?"

"I would say that’s quote for labour only is high. If this price included all materials and consumables then it would be what I would expect. Obviously the bathroom suite is additional."

"Hi Claire,

Labour quotes for a new bathroom usually range between £5,000 to £7,000, which depends primarily on the bathrooms size and the amount of work which needs to be performed. If you have any further questions or simply need some guidance, please feel free to get in touch or schedule an on-site meeting and we will provide you with a quote the following working day.
