Full Small Ensuite Bathroom Install
We engaged 101 Group CAC Ltd (Myles Davies) to carry out an ensuite renovation and paid a £1,950 deposit on 17 January 2026. The agreed start date was 9 February 2026, but the contractor did not attend and gave no prior notice. Further agreed start dates of 16/17 February and 23 February 2026 were also missed, again with no communication. No work was carried out. Myles came up with one banal excuse after another: rain, frost, overrun works, car accident, lost phone. We purchased and supplied all materials for the works ourselves. When reviewing the materials invoic, we found 30-40% markup on products when comparing them on Screwfix/Wickes/Travis Perkins etc. Due to repeated missed start dates and lack of communication, we cancelled the job. Other users should be aware of the risk of non-attendance and non-refund of deposits. Despite issuing a Letter Before Action on 24 February 2026, the deposit has still not been returned.

We have been nothing but communicative across the whole process, have helped out with costings, sourcing materials and advising you on what should be done. Unfortunately as you have been told the start date did get pushed back on several occasions but on each of these you were informed in advance and didn’t have an issue with it. On the day that we were due to start our contractor was involved in a car accident on the way to the job, which resulted in you being updated at 4pm when they were able to get to their phone. And we said we would start the following day. Other delays were due to poor weather given the starting part of the job was removing a chimney stack, and associated brick work, we are not able to control the weather and advised you it would not be suitable to start the job. You didn’t send a response to this update and simply without any engagement or time to action your request issued a 14 day letter. At no stage has it been said you would not be refunded and your response and handling of this situation has just been poorly managed. Your previous review going into deformation and assumption has been amended by the site, but show the character and Materials - there is an associated cost around collection, time to build lists, out of work hours to complete ensuring everything is on site as needed and a mark up is going to be added for this. Your wild assumptions of 30-40% are as absurd as your suggestion we don’t communicate with you. You will also be hard pressed to find contractor who will pay for your materials in advance on the assumption you will refund them after. That I’m afraid just doesn’t happen, as you were told. Receipts were also offered on any materials pre paid with a final balance reduction on completion to ensure you paid what we paid. So there would have been no profit from this on completion. We also added extra work to the job for you and didn’t increase the labour cost to the work. Every step we tried to help and even after all this we find ourselves at this stage. As you can read from our many reviews, communication is something we are very good at and our work is never held to account. Unfortunately sometimes there are delays in construction but that’s how it goes. We certainly We wish you the best for your new arrival and hope you get the work completed asap. Best 101 Group

Brilliant, so accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. Excellent workmanship constructed the hen house and chicken run according to instructions. He even picked the plums from my tree which were too high for me!
