Is it possible to repair scratched glass in windows?

Is it possible to repair scratched glass or will these windows simply need to be replaced? Are there repairable scratches and those that are beyond repair etc.? How can I tell if a scratch is beyond repair (if there is a point beyond repair)?

"Hi Karen
The answer to your question has diversified replies
a ) if the scratch is mild; try using abrasive liquids or toothpaste. Clear nail polish may also help
b)Medium sort of scratches; try glass scratch kits ( google has never disappointed anyone yet)
c) for deep scratches; buffing is done; obviously which is not a possible option for everyone.
The last option you must have guessed by now; change it.

Addressing your last part of the question; FEEL the scratch and it will tell you how much damage it has caused e.g it has made a groove or not

"I'm afraid the only way to try to repair a scratch in glass is to try and polish it out. If this does not work the glass would need to be replaced"

"Hi Karen,
Yes, scratches can be polished out but results can be dependent on glass thickness. Unless the DG units in question are of a large size and or a specialist glass it will be more cost-effective for you to just replace the DG units."
