Internal wall repair

Having removed wallpaper I found a patch of plaster approx 50cm x 50cm which I assume was a previous repair was lifting away from the wall.
It’s hollow behind and a hole in the plaster allows me to see the masonry behind.

If I was to remove the plaster seeing as its coming of the wall anyway, can I use a masonry / cement filler to fill and level it off prior to getting a professional to skim the wall?

Would I need to waterproof with blackjack or something similar?

Thanks
J

"Hi there, yes you can use just cement to fill up the wall, but i would give the patch a coat of sbr first to get a good bond.

"If its already started to come away I'd suggest you take the whole area off before the plasterer starts and bond the wall out or record it"

"Check for any other area on the wall to see if there are any other spots which may have failed when removing the wall paper. If the wall in an internal wall and no history of damp then no damp treatment should be needed. If you are getting a plasterer to skim the wall then they can easily do this repair as part of the job. Bonding the area out level and then skimming the wall is stratight forward for them."

"If you are taking the route of removing all the blown render off you have a few options you can dot and dab plasterbord on the wall probably the quickest and easiest way on the other hand you can render the wall. As for the waterproofer that should be added to the render mix and if you have no damp issue previous to the work you wont need to tank or waterproof the wall. If you need a plasterer please done hesitate to give me a call, i hope this helps.
Thanks,
Craig."
