Insulating lime plaster

I've read in a magazine about an insulating plaster made from lime, cork and loam but there's no mention of what it's called or what difference it makes. Does anyone know what this is, whether it works and how much it costs?

"Hi Monika,

These plasters consist of materials such as Cork, glass beads and others that have/or introduce micro pores that trap air and therefor have good insulating properties when compared to the cement/gypsum based alternatives.
These plasters do have their merits, especially in buildings of solid brick or stone wall construction (such as aiding breathability - controlling heat flow and water vapours, (moisture)) and walls will be noticably warmer at the surface.

Before considering the application of such, I suggest that you consider the type of building construction and the insulating performance your home as a whole.

For example, ensuring that you have adequate loft insulation, floor insulation (if possible), cavity wall insulation (if applicable), and the quality and insulating performance of windows/doors (often overlooked). Also, consider controlling air flow throughout your home. In the longer term, these may be more beneficial both in terms of thermal performance and being economical.

Bit of a ramble, but hope this helps,
Kind regards."
