"Anything you can do yourself is worth doing, shop around for materials, you can quite often find 2nd hand materials on line like timber thats been used before or insulation,
Ask the trades that you use if theres any way of reducing the price, for instance using different materials
Only do the jobs that have to be done initially"

"Buy material yourself . Ensure every thing is ready for them so no aborted visit. Do labouring yourself if you really want to cut the cost. What ever price you agree ask for a discount. The more important thing is to get the right people who knows their job because the worse thing is to do it twice."

"It would all depend on what sort of renovations you are talking about obviously doing as much as you can yourself like painting etc. Labour is a big portion of the total expense. Maybe even try to learn some new skills. As long as you don't cut corners where it involves building regulations, or certificates. Also some materials can be sourced online where people have too much or aren't using it. And if you have any friends in trades get advice and ask to use trade accounts you will generally get things a bit cheaper. Best of luck."
