How to install a tumble dryer vent

We've got a condenser dryer at the moment but want to switch to a vented one. What's involved in installing the vent hose through the wall. Can that be done as a DIY job?

Hi yes it can be done if you have the garret tools you will need a core cutter and core dril

You can buy from Toolstation or Wickes a 110mm core drill which is SDS but can but attachment for normal drill. Core drill through the wall missing pipes and sockets and fit a consatina vent hose to hole with vent cover on outside (which you can but most DIT stores) thanks Daren

Yes this can completely be done as a diy job if you have the correct equipment to do the job.

A diy job determine on the skill set of the person doing such works, but you need to core a round hole of 400mm, then you can push the hose through, you should fix a flap on the outside wall to keep rain and debris out.

yes it can you just need a good rotary drill if going through masonry & a masonry augar with core bit the size  of the vent pipe,which you can buy in kits from the likes of B&Q Wickes etc.

Depending on the diameter of the pipe to be used.....a core drill could be used....this would work well on a solid single wall or a cavity wall.
However if too big for a core drill bit, it could be cut out with a power masonary cutting saw and hammer and bolster.
Either way you would need to have the tools to do the job.....more of a tradesman with the correct tools really....to be safe.

You definitely can do it yourself ,however you will probably have to hire all the correct gear  to do the job around £80 ,as long as you feel confident go for it  .Watch the clutch on the drill it can jam and spin on your wrist !!

A tradesman could do this for £75
