got a huge overgrown laurel taking over the back garden and it needs to come out roots and all. is that a gardener job or a tree surgeon, and whats it likely to cost?

I would recommend spraying the laurel with a herbicide, the strongest one possible, In this manner you will make sure all the plant and roots are destroyed.

Removal would be easier this way, hope this helps

This would entirely depend on the size of the bush itself and how established the roots are. Laurels are very hardy and dense bushes which would require specialist equipment for removal and disposal.
