How long does underfloor heating take to warm up?

I’ve just had underfloor heating fitted and I’m not sure what to expect. How long should it usually take before the floor and room start to feel warm?

". Electric underfloor heating (UFH):
• Heats up quite quickly.
• Usually 30 minutes to 2 hours to feel warm, depending on floor covering and insulation.
• Tiles/stone heat up fastest, carpet or thick wood takes longer."

"Hi angie, results suggest depending on size of floor span etc ranging between 20/30 mins up to an hour or possibly a little more again depending on size of floor layout. I do however personally know someone who has reported the underfloor heating taking a couple of hours to reach a desirable warmth through out, as its not designed to heat up like traditional central heating it applies a more gentle warmth apposed to actual hotter temperatures. Hope this helps. Shane"

"It warms up very quickly and you can feel the benefits because these holds in the floors"

"Normally lea than 1 hour
But you have to look at other factors
Electric underfloor heating is quicker than a wet system

Is there insulation under the floor if not it will take longer to heat up
If on carpet the under and carpet must not be more than 1.5 tog as this will prevent floor from heating up.

Is the floor timber or concrete this can also have a bearing on why the floor is not heating up

Is Is"

"It depends on the external temperature and the size of the room. For normal 2 bedroom house, it should be about an hour if the house is well insulated and slightly longer depending on your insulation"
