How long do pillar taps tend to last for?

"This depends on the quality of components that are provided from manufacturing and the type of water that you have in your area. Hard water will cause limescale build up and lower quality components will wear out faster.
Both problems have solutions."

"Pillar taps as do other taps should last between five and ten years, but it's like everything, the more the spindles and washers inside the tap head are turned the more they wear out..but the actual body of the tap if looked after can last for well over 5 years"
