How long can tin of paint be left open?

How long can I leave a half opened tin of gloss paint before it dries up?

"About a day you will get a thick skin over it but you can peel that off and gloss will be fine under it ."

"Well I can only think wether it's gloss or water base paint
Water base paint I would say three to four days for the paint to form a skin"

"Good for about a day or two. You can do a similar thing with paint brushes, just use a large ziploc style bag, squeeze as much air out as possible, and zip them up. Keeps the paint from drying on the brush, and you can open it up later that day or the next day and keep painting"

"Alday probably but the oils in the paint will gradually come out and will loose its velocity"

"It depends on the type of paint really and volume most can be open a day and still okay with a good stir"

"It will normally form a skin over the top but paint has a limited shelf life"

"Its best not to leave the gloss open at all.
If this is unavoidable you've got around 12 hours before it becomes completely unusable."
